The evidence

The evidence is clear, men’s issues that could be helped with counselling are under-represented while substance-abuse and suicide issues dominate. Counselling can benefit.

The-solution

The solution

Dr. Dadson has several decades of experience counselling men, single or with families, including veterans of the military, police, fire and ambulance. He has completed extensive research, providing him with the expertise to help men address issues in their lives, both general, and those related directly to the state of being a man.

Dr. Dadson acknowledges:

When you decide to see a therapist, or seek counselling, you're making a decision to see someone who has a responsibility to maintain your confidentiality and your privacy.

You need someone who can listen, understand and help you sort out the complications of your circumstances so that you can feel confident and empowered with the decisions you make.

By lowering the raw physical and emotional reactivity of situations, a professional Counsellor can help you act and not just react. Thoughtful responses are usually more effective. As a therapist, I am here to help facilitate that process, to help you find the power you to need to make the decisions that you need to make (not for someone to impose on you, the decisions that they think are right for you.

Dr. Mike Dadson points out:

Making changes is a natural process of growth and development, which can be kind of exciting, meaningful and even and fun, but there are usually growth pains, even traumatic pain. I am here to provide a non-judgmental space for that as well as support you, guide you, and at times even direct you through that process.

There are times when those particular moments can be overwhelming or painful, when they're just calling us, stretching us to become more than what we are now. The pain can make us just want to escape. Because we're always in the process of becoming more, and that's what growth is, we're in a constant process of growth, healing and development.
